More Mower Thefts

Here's a message received from one of our neighbors regarding yet another mower theft...

"Officer Orange,

My John Deere self-propelled mower was stolen from my garage in the early evening (still daylight) on June 14. I reported it immediately, and an officer came out and filed a report. My garage door was only half open, and I live on a cul-de-sac with no thru traffic in the Gardens section of Cotton Hill.

The day before, on a Saturday morning (June 13), an unmarked, not new or old, full sized (no club cab), plain white pickup truck with two adult males passed by my house slowly, down the street and then back up curbside, where it slowed. I was sitting in my garage at the time, and the passenger saw me (and would have been able to see the mower) and then the truck drove off.

The next evening, around 7 pm, it was taken, while I was inside my house. At the time, the officer seemed to think it was kids, but we clearly don't think so. You could see the path of the wheels where it was rolled out to the street, and no doubt loaded into a pickup. My John Deere dealer reported that they have had numerous people coming in to purchase new mowers who have had theirs stolen. I have my serial number."

Racoon Alert

On Friday June 26th on Sugar Loaf Mountain Rd and Grandin Rd Extension there was a racoon which was out during the day - as you all may know Racoons are nocturnal animals - this animal may have rabies - we are not sure. Please be sure you do not have any dog / cat food out and you may want to lock up trashcans so that this animal will move on. Just wanted to alert everyone. Please be watchful of your pets and local wildlife Thanks Tina Cook

Another Lawnmower Theft

From Officer Orange...Lawnmower Update...

"Ladies and Gentlemen,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to let you know there was another
mower taken. This time it was in the Whistler Dr area of the County. It is my
understanding the mower was in the yard and not in a bldg. Please inform your
NW and Civic League members the importance of secure property that is
unattended.

Be Aware of Lawnmover Thefts

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am writing just to make you aware so you can pass the info on to members of
your respective leagues or associations. I have seen three calls over the past
2 weeks concerning the theft of lawnmowers from homes. I would suggest when
finishing with your lawn care you make sure your mower is placed in a secure
location. I would also suggest if you have to stop in the middle of mowing for
any reason you put your mower out of sight or close to the house even if just
for a few minutes. The 3 incidents I have been made aware of occurred (1) in
the Bradshaw rd area and (2) in the Mt. Pleasant area of the County. If anyone
sees any suspicious activity or situations that may be related to such crimes
please notify police. Thanks

Missing Cat

Dear Neighbors,

Ellen Clements, who lives on Stoneybrook, contacted me because her cat , Katrina, has been missing for 2 weeks. She believes it is over in the Brookfield/Merino area.

Katrina is light grey with the coloring fading as it gets down toward the ends of her legs and tail. She is a year old, medium build, and has bright yellow eyes with a pink noise. If you see Katrina, please call Mrs. Clements at 989-2048. Please spread the word and keep your eyes open. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Sara Cann
